March 27, 2020–From the Church Chair and Executive Board

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Faith Covenant Family:

Last night the Executive Board continued our ongoing discussions on the ways we as a church family will continue to stay connected and enjoy worship even if we can’t all be together in one place.

After much deliberation, discussion, and prayer we have decided that Faith Covenant will follow the “stay in place” orders from our governor. We are following the events as they unfold and evaluate the situation as the end date approaches.

Therefore, we will continue with online services until it is appropriate and safe for all of us to return. This means that for at least the next three Sundays, March 29th, Palm Sunday April 5, and Easter Sunday April 12, services will be available online beginning at 9:30 am on both Facebook and YouTube. The church building will remain closed for all events and activities until further notice.

Please note: Participants in our online services are practicing social distancing and closely following other guidelines set by the CDC in order to bring you online services.

The mission of our church is: To connect people into compelling Christian community in order to grow them into disciples of Jesus and reach our neighbors for Christ. Pastor Nate in the latest Life at Faith 3/25/2020 reminds us that “it is of upmost importance to continue to do this well” by Connecting–Care Groups; Growing–Midweek Devotion & Prayer and Prayer & Accountability Partners; and Reaching–Assistance and Resources.

If you know of anyone struggling…friends, neighbors, colleagues…please reach out to them. A card or a phone call can work wonders. Let people know you care and are praying. As Pastor Nate encouraged us in his “Every” sermon series, “Every member is a minister.” If you need assistance, please contact Pastor Nate–pastor@faithecc.org or our Deacons–deacons@faithecc.org.

As we continue through this difficult time, please join us in support and prayer for:

*Pastor Nate and the church staff as they continue to deliver the Word of God

*The government officials in charge in responding appropriately

*Medical professionals who are on the front lines of caring for patients

*Those most susceptible to the disease

*Families already affected by the Coronavirus

Finally, be in prayer and have patience with the Executive Board as we navigate through this unprecedented time. Further updates from the Executive Board will be available as needed. You can find information in Life at Faith.

Yours in Christ,

The Executive Board-Gary Hutchinson, Steve Karlson, Sandi Vander Kooi, Gene Frost, Peter Smith, Wendy Smith, Bill Humer, Rita Christensen, Pastor Nate Hickox

March 20, 2020–From the Church Chair and Executive Board

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

During the past weeks, the leadership at Faith Covenant has developed ways to stay connected and still enjoy Worship, even if we can’t all be together in one place. Last week Pastor Nate recorded a message that was available virtually.

This will continue until further notice. The Worship Service will be available online beginning at 9:30 am each Sunday on Facebook or YouTube. The church building will remain closed for all events and activities through April 4.

The Executive Board is regularly meeting virtually to ascertain this ever–changing situation. We ask that you do the same if possible. Social interactions should be kept to a minimum. If you must meet with others, please follow the guidelines set up by the CDC.

Please join us in support and pray for Pastor Nate and the church staff as they continue to deliver the Word of God. In addition, continue to pray that the virus will be contained; for the government officials to respond appropriately; for medical professionals who are on the front lines of caring for patients; for those most susceptible to the disease; and for families already affected by the Coronavirus.

Finally, be in prayer and have patience with the Executive Board as we navigate through this unprecedented time. Further updates will be available by April 1. You can also find information in Life at Faith newsletter. To subscribe click here.

Yours in Christ,

The Executive Board-Gary Hutchinson, Steve Karlson, Sandi Vander Kooi, Gene Frost, Peter Smith, Wendy Smith, Bill Humer, Rita Christensen, Pastor Nate Hickox

March 19, 2020–From Pastor Nate

Dear Friends,

Our church is in prayer for our community and world in light of the health concerns that face us. The Word reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Please take this truth to heart. God is YOUR refuge, strength and help, no matter what you face, physically, emotionally or financially, God is with you.

In light of this current crisis here are some things we are doing as a church family:

-We are reaching out to members, attenders and visitors with phone calls and emails. (If we don’t have your contact information please fill out the Connect Card on the homepage.)

-We encourage you to view the Sunday Worship service. You can access it through facebook.com/FaithCovWheaton or subscribe to the Youtube channel by clicking here.

-We are organizing the church into small groups who can meet together using Zoom, an on-line meeting forum. This technology is new to many. If we have your email address, we will be sending you instructions.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7-6

Blessings, Pastor Nate Hickox

March 13, 2020

Faith Covenant Family and Guests:

Our Executive Board has been closely monitoring the developments surrounding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians to not be anxious about anything, instead to pray about everything (4:4-6). When we do that God promises us his supernatural peace. Paul also tells us to submit ourselves to governing authorities (Romans 13:1-7). These scriptural thoughts are guiding our response to COVID-19.

Given the decisions recently made by local and state officials, the Executive Board has decided to suspend Sunday Services and all activities at the church through March 29. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of any changes as time progresses.

This decision was not an easy one to make. We, as children of God and as a family at Faith Covenant, have a responsibility to others to keep them safe. Our church leaders and staff will be working to develop ways we can stay connected and still enjoy worship, even if we can’t all be together in one place. In the very least the sermons will be audio recorded and posted on our website as usual. We will also be posting the pre-recorded sermon on Facebook Premiere (facebook.com/FaithCovWheaton).  If we have your email address you will receive information with links to our new format.

Finally, we need to replace any fear and anxiety with faith and PRAYER.  Pray that the virus will be contained. Pray that government officials in charge will have the wisdom and discernment to respond appropriately. Pray for medical professionals who are on the front lines of caring for patients. Pray for families affected by the Coronavirus through illness, or by having their work and school routines changed. Pray for the economy and the under resourced who can be most affected by uncertain financial times. The Lord hears our prayers!

Things are changing rapidly, and new information is being released constantly. We will continue to make adjustments in response to the information we are receiving. Please, be in prayer and have patience with the Executive Board as we navigate through this unprecedented time.

Yours in Christ,

The Executive Board-Gary Hutchinson, Steve Karlson, Sandi Vander Kooi, Gene Frost, Peter Smith, Wendy Smith, Bill Humer, Rita Christensen, Pastor Nate Hickox
