Immerse Devotional
I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. (From Galatians, Immerse pg 167) The other day, one of my teens came home from school and announced that his World History teacher covered “the entire history of Christianity in just a few class periods!” I asked a follow up question: “Did he teach the history of Christianity or…of Christendom?” His eyes grew big as he started to nod. “Good point! Yes!” he clarified. We went on to discuss that what makes the news—and the history books—is often powerful political or religious people making decrees and wars. But behind the scenes, hundreds or thousands or millions of Christ-followers are building communities together, working to love God and to love their neighbor. To seek justice, to love mercy, to walk humbly with God. This is the history of Christianity, even if the stories will never be recorded. In Galatians, Paul is shocked to learn that his disciples have found a “Good News” that is not good at all, that does not ring true with the loving mercy of Christ. They have been fooled by those who twist the message of our faith. It’s a common tale. I’m sure Paul would have something similar to say to us, today. But still Jesus is inviting us to good news, to the love, mercy, and new life found in Christ. This is the Christianity we are invited to live into each day, together—no matter what is happening in the news. -Catherine McNiel |

Journey With Us Through Lent
Every year the church invites us to mark the 40-day season of Lent until the celebration of the resurrection on Easter Sunday. In Lent, we focus more on confession, repentance from sin, and the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Traditionally, the church invites us to focus on the spiritual practices of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving and to practice these together as a community.
We invite you to journey together through Lent in the following ways:

Community Board
The Community Board is a space for us to... Kids CDs or tapes to share: I was wondering if anyone has CDs or tapes with kids music that you aren’t currently using? I would love to borrow some music to listen to with the girls, especially Christian music or things that other people enjoyed listening to with their kids. Email me: saraheagee@gmail.com -Sarah Johnson Book Give Away: If anyone has been wanting to read "THE REASON FOR GOD" by Tim Keller, I am done and will pass it on. -Susan Aarseth Selling or Donating a Car: My brother-in-law is currently studying at a seminary. Unfortunately, their family's minivan, which they relied on for daily transportation, has recently broken down beyond repair. They urgently need a vehicle to help manage everyday responsibilities, such as attending classes and running errands, but they have very limited funds. If you know anyone who has a vehicle they might be willing to sell or, even better, donate, please reach out to Pastor Zachs, outreach@faithecc.org or 331.236.0316. Your assistance would mean the world to them! Thank you! Ask to borrow items
