Fall Festival: Next Saturday!

We're so excited to invite you to this year's Fall Festival on October 25, from 2:00-4:00pm at Faith Covenant Church! Join us for an afternoon of fall fun with a Kid's Activity Table, Inflatable Corn Maze and Slides, and the Trunk or Treat! This is a great opportunity to invite friends, family, and neighbors for a lighthearted celebration of the fall season.

We will also be hosting a food drive. If you feel inclined, please bring with you some non-perishable food items. Or if you're looking for another way to help out with this event, the sign up to decorate their trunks and hand out candy is still open.

Liturgical Common Read

Liturgical Common Read

Welcoming the Stranger

Following worship on November 9, Pastor Eliza and Stephanie Clark will lead a discussion of this month's Liturgical Common Read of Welcoming the Stranger. Lunch will be provided! RSVP below so we can make sure there is enough food for everyone.

This reading and discussion is an opportunity to move beyond polarized debates about immigration and ground our response in Scripture, guided by our historic Covenant questions, “Where is it written?” and “How goes your walk?”

We are so thankful for Pastor Nate and Pastor Eliza! Following worship this week, the Care Team will have a table set up with cards and envelopes so we can let our pastors know how loved they are.

Intergenerational Prayer Partners

Connecting our generations through prayer

We need more adults to sign up to be a prayer warrior for a child in the church this year! You will receive an official prayer card featuring one of the kids in the church and commit to praying for them at least once a week throughout the school year.

Would your child (birth-high school) benefit from intentional prayer this year? Fill out a few questions for the prayer card that will be given to an adult in the church.

Jake & Christina Evans serve with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KA ministering to faculty and graduate students. Please pray for these needs:

  • Pray for our follow-up faculty gathering as we begin discussing David and Jamie Smith’s Teaching and Christian Practices as a continuation of last year’s focus on understanding our secular age and how to engage with this current generation of students in classroom. This book is a collection of great essays on how to utilize historic Christian practices to reshape and redirect pedagogical strategies.
  • Pray for my one-on-one pastoral care meetings with Christian faculty.
  • Pray for our family as we navigate the business of life with three teenagers!

Your prayers and giving are making an impact for God’s Kingdom at KU! Send a word of encouragement at jake.evans@intervarsity.org

The Care and Prayer Ministry Team prays for all prayer requests submitted through the digital and paper Connect Cards.  If you have an urgent prayer need, you can email careteam@faithecc.org or call Team Leader Rita Christensen at 630-835-8737.

Caring Network Event: You're invited to the Caring Network's Annual Night for Life on October 23rd! If you are interested, please talk to Ray and Jane Hinsch who are also planning to attend.

Looking for Affordable Housing: Many of you may know that I was looking for new housing arrangements last year before my lease expired. It now has become a necessity to find an affordable place to live.  I have lived independently, but at this time would prefer renting a room w/in a home, sharing an apartment w/ someone else you may know, or at the very least a more affordable single studio or one bedroom apartment.
My hope is "this new living arrangement" to remain in the area of Wheaton or close by so I don't lose Faith Covenant and that doesn't require me to find a whole new medical team, losing the great providers I have now. I also no longer can afford my rent as I have had to cut my hours at work due to health needs.
If you know of anyone in a similar situation or are aware of a more affordable apartment, would you please contact me at 847-331-5644, thank you, Erika Stahl
