Journeying Together Through Lent
Each year, the church invites us into the 40-day season of Lent, a journey that leads us to the celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. Lent begins with our Ash Wednesday service on February 18 at 6:30 PM. This season calls us into intentional discipleship through confession, repentance, sacrifice, and renewed focus on Jesus’ death on the cross. Traditionally, the church practices fasting, prayer, and almsgiving, walking these rhythms together as a community. We invite you to journey through Lent together in the following ways: Scripture Reading Our Lenten sermon series, The Passion of Christ, will guide us through Jesus’ journey to the cross. We invite you to join a corporate reading plan focused on Christ’s Passion. Click the "Learn More Here" link below to see the full reading plan. Fasting We invite the church to participate in a corporate fast throughout Lent. You can fast from screens, being under-rested, food on Sunday mornings, constant background noise, spending money on ourselves, etc. We will "break the fast" together on Sunday mornings at the communion table, where we remember that Christ is the one who truly satisfies. Please choose the kind of fast that is appropriate for your physical and spiritual health. If you are considering fasting from food, learn more about how to do so safely HERE. Almsgiving During Sunday offerings, we will also invite you to support our Tiger Breakfast Ministry. As we have given up something during our fast, we encourage you to give toward providing breakfast for a student. Wednesday Soup Suppers & Real Presence Each Wednesday in Lent, join us for a light soup supper from 5:30–6:15 PM in the Lounge, followed by Real Presence, a service of prayer and communion, from 6:15–7:00 PM in the Sanctuary. Click here to sign up to bring soup. Spiritual Companionship: Walking Together Toward the Cross Lent is not meant to be walked alone. Throughout these forty days, we are creating intentional spaces for spiritual support and care. Everyone is invited to find a partner or form a Triad for the season of Lent. We look forward to how God will meet us through these shared practices. May His grace and love transform us as we seek Him anew this Lent. For more infomation visit:

Ash Wednesday
Our Ash Wednesday service is tonight at 6:30 pm. Through worship and the imposition of ashes, this is a service of remembering we are dust and to dust we shall return. This is the start of the Lenten season as we journey with Jesus to the cross. Childcare is available in the nursery. |
Lenten Art Offering- Carissa King
Hello friends, I am excited to share with you this lenten season 8 painted banners that reflect onJesus’s final statements from the cross. These banners were painted by my dad, Rich King, in2014 and were originally displayed in conjunction with a sermon series he preached on each ofthe sayings. I hope, as my dad did when he originally painted them, that these banners call us allinto deeper worship of Christ as we ponder the wondrous mystery of our salvation through the cross. There will be one new banner displayed with its saying and a brief description each week starting at the beginning of lent and ending on Easter morning. May Christ reveal more of Himself to all of us in this season!
Our church is excited to include avenues for the offering of art in worship. For more information on our Faith and the Arts check out the many links on our website.

“Oh, the unfathomable depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!”A Lent Devotional: Rick Wolff More than anything on the night before his death, Jesus wanted us to see and share his glory. Christ longed for us to live intimately in Him and to know his divine and eternal life. Even now, at this very moment, Jesus and his Father have made their home in our hearts. Our most ecstatic treasure, indeed, our very life, is now hidden with Christ in God. Knowing Jesus and beholding his beauty above all else -- THIS is the reason we get out of bed each morning. THIS is the reason that we keep loving each other. But just in case we have forgotten the joy for which we were created and for which Christ endured the cross, the season of Lent is designed to jog our memory and renew our desires. Therefore, let us help one another to cast off every soul-crushing weight and hinderance, every regretful entanglement and every mind-dulling, life draining distraction so that we will be free to fix our eyes on Jesus. |
